Ni es crea ni es destrueix. Exposició EN RESiDÈNCiA
“Neither Created nor Destroyed” is the title of an exhibition that explores the different degrees of mutual infiltration between education, training and contemporary artistic practices through art works created during the third (2011-2012) and fourth (2012-2013) editions of the programme Artists IN RESiDENCE at Barcelona Secondary Schools*.
The exhibition features eleven new works by artists engaged in different creative fields, such as design, dramaturgy, the visual arts and contemporary dance. The artists shared the process of producing these pieces with secondary school pupils and teachers in Barcelona over the course of an academic year.
In “Neither Created nor Destroyed”, spectators are invited to visit a series of possible places from which to think about and experience the idea of space. They do this through familiar materials and situations, just as was done using critical exercises and actions conducted in the environment and using resources available to artists and pupils. Some media were physical and material, such as classrooms, the body, parks and the museum, whilst others, though similarly accessible, were abstract in nature, including memory, words, the economic system and the imagination. In short, it is a chance to think about the space for knowledge, creation and culture as the indestructible energy for transformation and the future.

The initiative was conceived jointly with the A Bao A Qu association, which encourages students to discover contemporary creation by fostering the permanent presence of artists at state secondary schools in the city, enabling them to develop projects in different artistic fields over the whole academic year.
