Activation of “The Paint by Number Museum (A Reader)”, by Rafel G. Bianchi

On Thursday, June 20 at 5:30 p.m., in the Finestres Space of La Capella, the activation of "The Paint by Number Museum (A Reader)" will be hold by the artist Rafel G. Bianchi.

This “reader” accompanies an installation with the same title that Émilie Ferrat and François Girard-Meunier presented at the Brno Biennale in 2016, and includes texts by Stephen Knott and Michel de Certeau. Both authors display an extensive historical and critical analysis of amateur artistic practice, focusing on the “coloring book” format that emerged in the United States in the 1950s.

For this presentation JA Llibreria has asked the artist Rafel G Bianchi to do a personal reading, constructing a parallel story that will connect contents of the publication with his personal imagination.

El dijous 20 de juny a les 17.30h, a l’Espai Finestres de La Capella, tindrà lloc l’activació de “The Paint by Number Museum (A Reader)”, a càrrec de l’artista Rafel G. Bianchi.

Aquest “reader” acompanya una instal·lació amb mateix títol que Émilie Ferrat i François Girard-Meunier van presentar en la Biennal de Brno al 2016, i inclou textos de Stephen Knott i Michel de Certeau. Ambdós despleguen un extens anàlisis històric i crític sobre la pràctica artística amateur, centrant-se en el format de “llibre per colorejar” que va sorgir als Estats Units als anys cinquanta del segle XX.

Per aquesta presentació, des de JA Llibreria hem demanat a l’artista Rafel G Bianchi que en faci una lectura personal, construint un relat paral·lel que connectarà continguts de la publicació amb el seu imaginari personal.
