Creació Jove Mercè'98

Creació Jove Mercè 98 is an open competition organised by Barcelona City Council that is aimed at all young artists working in various fields: the applied arts, visual arts, the moving image, music, literature and architecture. Creació Jove Mercè 98 is part of the project for the IX Biennial of Young Creators in Europe and the Mediterranean to be held in Rome in the summer of 1999.

During this first phase, the city of Barcelona has selected a number of artists in each field involved in the competition. A further selectionwill be made from these participants to choose who will represent Barcelona in Rome in 1999. The members of the jury for the plastic arts were Lola Donaire, Jorge Luis Marzo and Ángel Rabuñal. The jury made its selection of artists based on the fundamental criteria of innovation, quality and artistic research.
