'DRIFT AND CONTROL, interferences in the creative process'. Creadors emergents de l'Escola Massana
"DRIFT AND CONTROL, interferences in the creative process" showcases various projects by emerging artists from the Massana School, who present their end-of-course works alongside elements from the creative process. The show focuses particularly on the interferences generated by dialogues, sharp changes in direction, conceptual rethinks, materials and even the work itself. This whole series of unexpected events alters the way the process develops and, in many cases, becomes the very defining trait of the results. For this reason, a space is reserved for two projects that are ongoing, where the artists and groups involved will continue to produce their work over the several weeks that the exhibition is open to the public. These are, then, projects that are developing live, and will change from day to day. Both projects are closely linked to the Raval neighbourhood and the city of Barcelona, involving both local people and the architecture in the area. They generate reflections on and changes in perceptions of the environment, as well as dialogues with the exhibition space, the public place and passers-by.
The artists apply drift and control in varying degrees of intensity to their works. They use and/or attempt to control the fluctuations of uncertainty – dualities that mutually shape each other and finally become not only process but also the very essence of the project – and adapt to them.
