Animal liberation collage workshop
Wednesday 15 December 2021, 6.00 pm
Oscar Holloway is interested in natural history books and scientific illustrations as a way to expose the constraints and limits of human perception vis-à-vis the way we view and understand non-human animals. In this workshop, we will be using images of non-human animals, cutting them out and removing them from their paper backdrop, as if in a metaphorical game to free them from the places where they have been visually and conceptually represented, as well as trapped by the human gaze. Using this exercise in cutting out, we will experiment with the technique and possibilities of collage in order to give rise to speculations, new fabulations and perceptual games.
