Artist Talk: Dominic Lafontaine
Dominic Lafontaine will talk to us about his creative process and artistic research a few days prior to presenting his exhibition project at Homesession. The research he carried out during his residency in Barcelona was based on virtual fiction. It used AI creation tools and Design Fiction techniques to offer us an at times surreal and fun multimedia experience that manages to create the identity of a fictitious art centre.
Dominic Lafontaine (Quebec, 1979) is an Algonquin multimedia artist, poet and musician. His bold, humorous and often absurd works explore the very notions of cultural identity, meaning and belonging. A Visual Arts graduate from the University of Ottawa, he combines his knowledge of traditional art forms with new media to redefine the visual language of contemporary native art. His motto: ‘Research, remix and repeat!’
This is an activity in collaboration with Homesession, within the framework of Concèntric program.
