Adrift. Emotional Counter-Narratives of Immigration
‘Barcelona is a port without a lighthouse. The lack of a tower that points the way or provides refuge to those approaching its shores leaves you abandoned to your fate as you drift.
‘You draw closer, confused by the guidance of the flickering lights of the city, which seem eye-catching at a distance, like signs of welcome, though they possibly only indicate its complexities.’
Adrift. Emotional Counternarratives of Immigration is a disruptive sound action in the public space. The troubled Mediterranean waters and the Catalan capital form the narrative thread of a true account of individual and collective experiences shared in a series of life stories; an archive of feelings as a box of migrant tools and knowledge.
In the extended format of a radio series in three episodes, this project infiltrates through the loudspeakers on Sant Miquel beach, presenting a polyphony of personal stories experienced by the diverse identities and complexities that make up the migrant community in the metropolitan area of Barcelona.
