CRYO

Research project

CRYO

CRYO is a research project that focuses on amalgamating scientific-poetic-somatic-mythological narratives entangled in ice. The project aims to address the ‘cryosphere’ or ‘coldscape’ as a cryo-ecological setting in which ice, as a queering agent, melts the difference between natural and artificial, life and death, urban and rural as part of an intertwined continuum. The categories of liquid modernity (and its ultra-fast ways of making the world) no longer serve us in a world that is melting. Perhaps we can find other ways of thinking-feeling-acting in the present in the state of suspension or latency, in the liminal modes offered to us by ice of what is simultaneously ‘no longer and not yet’.
