La matèria com a forma (Matter as Form), a research project by Ariadna Parreu, is one of the BCN Producció 2016 off-site projects. Parreu’s project has generated ongoing work dynamics at Materfad, the materials centre in the Disseny Hub Barcelona building, where she and a number of invited collaborators have explored the nature of material from positions as varied as sculpture, architecture, traditional crafts, language and sound.
Materfad Barcelona pursues research and keeps a watchful eye on technological developments in the field of new materials and offers consultancy and training services to companies, professionals, universities and technology centres. While following the centre’s established guidelines on publicising and identifying materials, Parreu engages in a new challenge, which is to analyse material from the dysfunctional and flexible perspective of the visual arts.
As the final part of this process, the project will be mounting debates and sessions at which the results will be presented, to be held at the Museu del Disseny, opposite the Materfad centre.
The seminar, which will be held from 4.00 to 7.30 pm on Thursday 1 and Friday 2 December, will include presentations and talks by all the people involved in the project.
