Roundtable “If, in fact, we hardly have a lesbian story, do I exist?”
Wednesday 11 December 2024, at 6.30 pm
How is the lesbian body (self) represented in urban space when it finally abandons its phantasmatic condition? What counternarratives can emerge when we bring these representations to light? For the past year, Catarina Botelho has been researching (self)representations of lesbians in the street, between the transition and the late 1990s, when this identity, long made invisible, began to occupy and be inscribed in public space. With Merce Otero, Barbara Ramajo, Elena Castro and the public, we will consider in this round table how these photographs have operated at the time and the new configurations of the visible and the thinkable that they can open today.
