“Welcome to Our Museum. Please Come in and Smell the Flowers”
“Welcome to Our Museum. Please Come in and Smell the Flowers” by Quim Packard is a proposal that revindicates, from practice, the importance and potential of emotional and relationship structures within the field of artistic creation. Taking off from the commitment to creating a solo exhibition, artist Quim Packard has made this proposal a social endeavour among his friends, all of them artists from varying disciplines, turning it into a collective exhibition. With this as the premise for taking action, Packard twists his role as an artist and becomes a mediator in the process of negotiating among the artists that have been invited to participate. We could theorise about the “Welcome to Our Museum. Please Come in and Smell the Flowers” exhibition as a project that is inseparable from the emergence of the new social paradigms under the generalisation of social networks and cooperative models of cultural production among younger generations.
Nevertheless, what is sure is that Quim Packard would prefer to simply situate the origin of his project on the value of generosity, as an active agent and as an individual and collective impulse.
