The Invention of Boundaries: guided tour by the artists

"Are there options to live a more dignified life?" This is the question that sets in motion the set of three installations, which the Guasch Coranty Foundation Grants 2023 called The Invention of Boundaries. If they refer to the invention, it is to make evident the need to rename the way we live: what is a home? Who gives it value or what are its limits? These are the authors of the three projects that the Foundation has awarded this year:

Romina Pezzia, who has carried out a search based on the advertisements for domestic work (“Madam offered for”) found in public lighting in Barcelona. Her sewn pieces and her audiovisual interventions attempt to portray these people, and above all, what thoughts they have in common.

Biel Llinàs, who by asking himself about the spatial conditions in which he lives, says what is the surface area necessary to live with dignity?, and if his square meters really have to do with the value of our dignity. His installation “A Root of Surface” invites us to experience it from the discipline that is its own, which is painting.

Pau Bueno, who makes the experience of living poetic through video. In this case, she returns to the first home which is the sea, like an embryo in the waters of the mother's womb. In a projection room, we find a mother-child portrait, stitched with archival frames, an attempt to return to the heat of nothingness.
