“APOCALIPSIS PRÁCTICA”

How to propose a shared practice in times of physical distancing? The answer remains a challenge and is intuitively nothing more than summoning two ideas: first, the idea of the end of the world (apocalypse), and second, the fact of remaining together here in the face of whatever is to come (simply the day). The practice addresses the various states of bodies in an event-celebration-party. These range from euphoria to exhaustion. From being charged with energy and dancing and wanting to fuck, while at the same time allowing yourself to be seduced, wanting to be wanted and lying down to watch the event unfold.
Apocalipsis entre amigos o el día simplemente (Apocalypse among friends or simply the day) is a performance piece as well as practice that began to take shape in Lisbon in 2020 and will be premiered at the Centre d’Art La Capella on 23 September 2021, as part of the live performance modality (“Accions en viu”) of Barcelona Producció 2021-2022.
“Apocalipsis práctica” is a workshop prior to the premiere of the performance piece, which will be held in daily four-hour sessions over four sunsets and one sunrise from 26 to 30 July. The practice allows us to approach the mechanism, to experiment and to problematize the creation of the piece from within. The idea is to enter, explore, subvert and enjoy it together.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
The workshop is free and is open to 10 people interested in the performing arts and dance. No specific training in either of these disciplines is required.

Please indicate in the email if you are unable to attend the workshop on a specific day or during a specific time slot. Priority will be given to those who can attend the full workshop.

“[…] and when I thought I was drowning in the shit and that time was going backwards, @jpacomio invited me to take part in APOCALIPSIS PRÁCTICA at @lacaldera_barcelona, an encounter of 4 sunsets originating from a performance piece in which we gathered together 10 people to do something that I still have no words to describe or can’t be described with words because we don’t know its form. What we do to warm up and shake our little bodies before starting is some massage and spell training, a “perreo” dance with the hands, hardcore techno vibes, meditating with full on beats and listening when you feel you’re going to throw up your heart from exhaustion. Then comes the uncertainty and the membrane, the bonfire, the cocaine and the diazepam, the helping hand glances, being-disappearing with friends you don’t know and things that haven’t reached my brain yet and that I hope to find in our organised, extremely formal lives once this ends, if indeed it does ever end”.
