Workshop: Reworlding Systems, by Anna Pasco Bolta

Tuesday 6 February 2024, at 6.30 pm

The ‘Reworlding Systems’ laboratory presents the biological archive of Barcelona’s latent landscape as it gradually develops until becoming visible to the human eye. Ecosystems of bacteria living in symbiosis will be created from the city’s soil and wastewater based on the exploration of organic and inorganic materials that support the development of technology. Each of the participants will convert these ecosystems into their own living sculpture with the aid of the artist.

Anna Pasco Bolta lives in Barcelona and Munich. She won the Homesession Exchange grant and completed a residency at L’Écart (Quebec), where she presented her project Everywhen. Her work is interested in the organisational structures and systems of reality, combining various disciplines of the scientific-technical field with art. Her works can be found in the collections of the Münchner Stadtmuseum and Staff Stiftung, and they have been exhibited at the Speculum Artium Festival in Slovenia, ISEA 2022 International Symposium on Electronic Art, La Capella Barcelona, Lothringer 13 in Munich, Kunsthalle Kempten, Galerie Rettberg, Kunstverein München and Eigen+Art Lab Berlin, among others.

This activity is part of Carlos Monleón’s immersive exhibition Respiración Fluvial (River Breathing), running at Homesession from 18 January to 3 February. Homesession proposes two participatory activities related to sustainability and our relationship with the environment, specifically with water (Carlos Monléon, 31 January) and earth (Anna Pasco Bolta, 6 February).
